Trench Road Nursery School, Derry

Forest school

29th Jan 2026

In today's  forest school session we took part in many activities. We used our binoculars to look for birds and completed a bird audit. We found lots of wood pigeons, magpies and a Robin.  Our forest art was using clay to make birds, we added feathers and twigs. As the birds are very hungry in Winter we made some bird feeders from bird seed and butter. We hung them on the trees for the birds to eat. Den building was fun. We learned how to problem solve and work collaboratively. We built castles and dinosaur caves. As it was windy today we explored our windy day box. It was fun gathering twigs and tying ribbons to make windy day streamers. At the end of our session we love to have fun relaxing on the hammocks.
